Art and Design & Technology
Art, craft and design embody some of the highest forms of human creativity. A high-quality art and design education should engage, inspire and challenge pupils, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to experiment, invent and create their own works of art, craft and design. As pupils progress, they should be able to think critically and develop a more rigorous understanding of art and design. They should also know how art and design both reflect and shape our history, and contribute to the culture and creativity of our nation.
We want our children to use creativity and imagination, to design and make products that solve real and relevant problems within a variety of contexts, considering their own and others’ needs, wants and values. We intend for all children to acquire appropriate subject knowledge, skills and understanding as set out in the National Curriculum. It is our aim to create strong cross curricular links with other subjects, such as Mathematics, Science, Computing, and Art. We want Design and Technology to prepare our children, to give them the opportunities, responsibilities, and experiences they need to be successful in later life.
Peterchurch Primary School have enjoyed the opportunity to share their work with the community by displaying their art projects at the Hub located in St. Peter's Church. Our recent pieces have focused on the changing of the seasons and Harvest Festival.
We celebrated World Art Day by dressing up as an artist or a piece of artwork! We produced artwork inspired by a range of different artists and displayed them in our Hall Art Gallery for parents to come and see.
