Peterchurch Primary School

PE

A balanced PE curriculum at Peterchurch Primary School enables children to develop competence in skills such as running, jumping, throwing and catching through specific and thorough teaching; it provides opportunities to apply these skills to sports and games and then put them into practice within a competitive environment.  We believe the values and opportunities created through Physical Education play a vital part in the daily lives of our children. Physical activity not only has a positive impact upon academic learning but also the physical, mental and emotional well-being of our children.

The range of skills and activities delivered including athletics, games, dance, gymnastics, OAA and swimming, allow children to explore a range of positive experiences, which provide a healthy foundation to build upon instilling a life-long understanding of the benefits of an active lifestyle.

PACES, provide us with a specialist sports coach in school each Friday to support teachers with delivering high quality PE lessons.

We strive to take part local events and tournaments to give children the opportunity to represent our school and give them further opportunities to develop their sporting skills.

Special Events

On Friday 8th October 2021, we welcomed Joe Wicks to our school.  All the children and staff enjoyed one of Joe's energetic workouts, before he went on to read his new book, Burpee Bears.  There was an opportunity for pupils to ask some questions and many left for home with a signed copy of his book.  A fantastic afternoon for all present.  All made possible as a result of Mrs Hill taking the time to enter the school into the competition - fantastic!
