Early Years Foundation Stage

At the end of Reception 73% of our pupils attained a Good Level of Development against the Early Years Framework. This is above the 2023 national average of 67%.

A Good Level of Development is defined as children working at the expected standard or exceeding the expected standard in the key areas of literacy, mathematics, physical development, communication and language and personal, social and emotional development.

 Year One Phonic Screening

Out of a very small cohort of children, 25% of our pupils in Year One attained the expected standard in the Phonic Screening test. The national average in 2023 was 79%.

Key Stage One - Year 2

At the end of Year 2, teachers are required to assess each child in the areas of reading, writing and mathematics. National Curriculum tests are used to support teachers’ assessments. Judgements are made as follows:

Expected Standard – Working at the expected standard for the end of Year 2

Greater Depth – Working at greater depth, exceeding the expected standard for Year 2

 Key Stage Two - Year 6

Children in Year 6 are also assessed on their knowledge and understanding of the curriculum in reading, writing, mathematics and grammar. The results of the SATs (tests) are reported using a scaled score, where a score of 100 or more in the test represents the expected standard and 110 or more in the test represent greater depth. The highest possible score is 120 and the lowest is 80. There isn't a test for writing, teacher assessment judgements are used in writing:

Expected Standard - Working at the expected standard for the end of Year 6

Greater Depth - Working at greater depth standard for the end of Year 6.
